China gets Blackberry

For the first time Research In Motion (Rim) will launch the Blackberry smartphone in China.
China Mobile is to provide the network service for the handsets across 14 different provinces.
A Research In Motion spokesperson said: “We are pleased to launch the BlackBerry solution in association with China Telecom as we both understand the needs of enterprise customers.
They added: “China Telecom and Blackberry are providing an end-to-end integrated platform that delivers efficient and effective communications.”
This move signals the intention of RIM to tap into markets in Asia and the Far East. It is well-timed as Blackberry is fighting for its share of the US and European markets with competing handsets such as the iPhone and Android.
The Blackberry will initially be targeted at business customers in China only, including both local enterprises and multinationals. It will come with the full range of business services which makes it such a popular phone.
